40 Days without Facebook

Oh my!!! I've never done the whole 40 days of lent because growing up I wasn't used to doing it. I did not get ashes on my forehead but decided this year to sacrifice something in my life that I think is a huge distraction at work and home. Shame on me, I know but FB is so addicting.

I'm guilty of driving and trying to check my FB notifications, in between work hours constantly checking updated FB statuses, chatting with FB friends, in the morning at home I would take my time because I would take a quick glance of FB and stayed longer than I expected. The list goes on!

I also noticed I became less social with friends and wouldn't pick up the phone to see what they were up to, it was easier to comment on their status and you felt like you knew what was going on their life by their posts. Which isn't always true. I know I miss hanging out with my girlfriends and actually having a conversation over the phone or in person.

Plus, some friends were getting a bit annoying with so much of their personal life that was being posted on their FB that wasn't necessary. FB can be fun and entertaining but at the same time frustrating and annoying. Some take it way too serious and think it's their diary but then do not like the fact that their is rumors about them going around or that others are getting into their business.... hello, if you do not want your business out there then please do yourself a favor and stop letting the world know how your marriage/relationship is horrible, your money situations, your family problems, and so on.

During dinner or drives, my husband & I would say a few words to each other because I was glued to my phone and wouldn't start a conversation. He might enjoy some of the quiet time but I didn't like knowing that we wouldn't talk because I was too busy on FB. Not only with my husband but with family. I could see the frustration in my parents when my sister and I would sit in the living room and not say one word but all you could hear was "click, click, click, click".

Those are some of my main reasons of why I decided to free myself from FB for the next 40 days. It will be difficult and I hope to last the full term. I guess I will have to catch up on hobbies I was suppose to start back up on for my New Year's resolutions. Wish me luck!
Goodbye Facebook, see you later!!

Our Housewarming Party - Success!

So I'm a little behind on my blogging. I got off track on both blogging and also my Program 2012- A picture a day. I feel like the last few weeks I haven't been following my goal routine. Never too late to get back on track though. Tomorrow is a start of a new week.

Anyway, I finally get a chance to post about our housewarming party. It was a success! Our family and friends came over and we had a great time. We truly feel blessed with all the support of everyone. We definitely felt the love.

Our day started early in the morning and we were excited that the day had arrived. We were both nervous and anxious, as this was officially our first house party and we were the host. Luckily, my mother is a superwoman and always extremely helpful. She was the first to arrive and helped us get a few things ready. Soon after a few others started to arrive and help. The husband tested out for the first time his "disco". We cooked marinated fajita and it was delicious. We enjoyed ourselves and loved all of our gifts as well.

Proud Home Owners- Happy to have family & friends at our new home.
